Get your Driving License
To get a new driving license, a citizen or a resident need to apply to a registered driving institute in the related emirate to attend driving classes and pass all tests (if required). After finishing all classes and passing all tests, the applicant can get a new driving license valid for 2 years for citizens, GCC nationals and other nationalities.

Taxi
Taxis can be hailed from the roadside or can be booked in advance. There are special taxis for women and children, families, and people of determination.

Bus Transportation
Air-conditioned buses connect most areas within each emirate and across the country. They operate according to schedule.

Metro Dubai
The Dubai metro is the world’s longest driver-less and fully automated metro rail network with a length of 74.6 km. It runs along red and green lines. It stops at 49 stations of which 9 are underground. Every station has bus connections, taxi stops and bicycle stands.

Mobile and Data

Application Process:

  • All the applicants must submit certified true copies of relevant documents along with the application form.
  • The university will decide on the recognition of your academic background and will decide at which level you can qualify to enter.
  • Once the application is successful you will receive a conditional/ confirmation offer letter from them which can be used to apply for student resident visa.
  • Visa procedure takes a week after you apply for visa.
  • As you get approval for visa you can book your tickets.
  • Students who hold passports from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries do not require a visa.
  • All other students must obtain a student visa which requires that they be sponsored by a university or educational institution recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education. The application can be made via an electronic form and requires a photo of the student. In addition to visa fees, a deposit of AED 1000 (about $300 US) is required that is refunded when the student departs the UAE.
  • The university applies for a student visa in Dubai. To process the student visa the student must hold an unconditional offer of acceptance and should have accepted the offer.

The UAE has 116 institutions of higher education, including 3 public institutes and about 30 international branches of universities from all over the world such as the University of Exeter and Michigan State University. Most of the international universities are located in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.

Scholarship:

  • The UAE universities generally only offer scholarships to their own nationals. However, the international campuses in the UAE do offer some form of scholarship or bursary; for example, University of Wollongong-Dubai and Murdoch University do offer scholarships to international students.
  • Students may take up unpaid internships but must obtain permission from the university before commencement. Students might also be able to take up unpaid work for a maximum of 20 hours per week. Some of the institutions are located in special educational zones and unpaid internships might be allowed within the zones
  • Universities with campuses in Dubai and Universities of Dubai have more or less similar entry requirements for their graduate and postgraduate study.

The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) announced issuance of its latest list of accredited academic programs offered by institutions of higher education and licensed by the Ministry.

The Undersecretary of MOHESR, Dr. Saeed Al Hassani emphasized the importance of refering to this list before applying to private universities/colleges ensuring the program is accredited. Dr. Al Hassani added that the CAA of the Ministry regularly reviews academic programs, using external reviewers invited to ensure that the programs offered in the UAE meet the international Standards of quality, so that our graduates compete globally.
